E-paper dashboard
A battery-powered Home Assistant display that sleeps most of the time.
What it is
A dashboard for my dad's Home Assistant setup. It shows the time, weather, indoor temperature and humidity, energy use, solar production and how many lights are on.
How it works
Every fifteen minutes the ESP32 wakes up, fetches the data from Home Assistant, refreshes the 7.5 inch e-paper screen and goes back to deep sleep. That keeps a 3000 mAh battery going for a long time.
If wifi fails, it shows a setup screen with QR codes instead of an empty display. I designed the PCB and wrote the firmware in ESPHome and C++.
